History

The Model A Restorers Club of Arizona is a special interest automobile club established in 1957 to promote restoration and preservation of the Model A.

Rix Mallonee was founder and president 1957, 1958, and 1959 of Model A Restorers Club Southwest Region. The name was changed to Model A Restorers Club of Arizona in 1961. A few members struggled through the first years to expand it to an attractive and worthwhile organization for Model A lovers, so they might meet together, exchange tips on restoration so to benefit from each others experience and thoroughly enjoy the Model A Ford.
The club serves membership families in the Phoenix area, across the United States and other countries. The members of this club have over 245 Model A’s. Some of the cars are restored to “true original condition and are shown in Regional and National Model A Events. Others are restored to the point of safe functional and good appearance and are driven regularly and have participated in many community events. The club is proud of their cars and likes to give back to the community a sense of the past by displaying and driving their cars. Many are driven on extensive tours in, Arizona, the US and overseas.
The club was chartered by the Model A Ford Club of America in 1989 and publishes a Monthly Newsletter, “The Desert A”.

Several years ago, the Model A Ford was recognized by one of the leading automobile journals as one of the worlds top 10 automobiles of all time.
